My First Car! The one you never forget... It was an 'econobox' tin can with low power, but it was mine.

My first car. Like your first girlfriend/boyfriend, you never forget. I was tired of arguing with Mom to borrow her ugly orange Ford Pinto to go out on dates... I used it as basic transportation to HS, then College and my jobs at Chuck-E-Cheese then Pay-N-Save... and yeah, the occasional date! comment icon

The Day I Bought it
My dad drove me to get the car after I decided to buy it. It was a four speed, and I NEVER had driven a manual car before. However, my brother had taught me how to ride motorcycles when I was about 10.... I paid up, and drove it home fine without incident. Thanks to my brother Scott for teaching me a clutch when I was just a kid! comment icon
Blew the Engine- Got a new one- A BETTER One
I don't remember the specifics, but I think I neglected to keep the radiator filled (being pretty new to owning a car... but still, very dumb), and my original engine overheated and warped the head. SO... Had to get a new engine. The original engine did not have much power, 85 HP maybe) A buddy knowledgeable about cars suggested I get a souped up "2T-G" engine- 114HP- which was technically illegal in the US at the time. I did NOT install the new engine myself; I took it to a professional, but they took a long time, about a month. After I finally got it back, it could really MOVE. I could beat a lot of other cars racing off a red light! comment icon
